A Concerned Parent in the Midwes

I was wondering if any of the parents on Synchroboards were around when Nationals was in Colorado last time.

We keep getting conflicting information about when the skaters need to go leave for Colorado. First the coaches told us there won't be a problem adjusting to the change in altitude and that they are going to leave on Tuesday. Then the coaches came back about a month later and said the skaters have to be out there a week before they compete to adjust. NOW they are telling us that USFS says skaters don't need more than 24 hours to adjust to the change in altitude. This just doesn't seem right to some of us, we think they need more time with the amount of travel time they will have and the difference in environment

I'm confused - how long did it take other teams to adjust last time and what did the skaters do to aclimate themselves once they got there? Did any skaters get sick while there were there? I know some of you are going to say to trust the coaches and go by what they say, but since they keep changing their minds I'm not sure they know. I want to hear from some experienced parents and skaters about their experiences and what they are being told this year. We have skaters on our team that have asthma and I am really worried about them getting sick if they don't take the time to adjust before they start training in Colorado.

Any advice you have would be so appreciated!
